New and Used Standard Cab Milk Truck For Sale

The milk truck was a small van that would travel through neighborhoods. The milkman would drop off milk on doorsteps. Most cities no longer have the milkman stopping door to door. With the growth in technology, milk goes to processing centers for bottling.

The newer milk trucks are a standard vocational cab unit. There is room on the back bed to install a spherical tank. It looks a lot like a truck that carries fuel to gas stations. These tanks range in size, with newer models holding more than older models. As of now, you can find trucks that can hold 6,000 gallons or more. Older models will hold up to 5,000 gallons. Depending on age, of course.

The tanks are also designed to keep the milk fresh during transit. Materials to make the tank keep the cold so that the milk won’t spoil on a hot day. The axles are also a bit different on the milk truck. These often feature the quad-axle system. The front axles will be able to accommodate around 20,000 lbs. Enough for the machinery and persons inside the vehicle. The rear axles will hold 40,000 lbs. or more. This is to accommodate for the weight of the milk inside the tank.
